HANALEI — The state Department of Transportation announced a right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 1 and 2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Bridge and Aku Road, for guardrail repair and tree and grass cutting. Work days and hours are Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Waikoko
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 4.4, vicinity of Waikoko Bridge, Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree and grass cutting and debris removal;
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 4 and 4.6, vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Waikoko Point, Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., for rockfall mitigation.
Kilauea
• A shoulder closure on Kuhio Highway eastbound between Ho‘okui Road and Wailapa Road is possible Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for clearing of vegetation around high-voltage lines.
Anahola
• A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 12 and 14, vicinity of Kamalomalo‘o Stream to Aliomanu Road, Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail repair.
Wailua
• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass Road, now through Friday, Sept. 23, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements.
Kapa‘a
• Portions of Mailihuna, Hau‘a‘ala and Kawaihau roads will be closed Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., as the construction of the new roundabout continues. No road work will occur during the peak traffic times for school drop-off and pick up. Over the next several weeks, the traffic-control configurations around these intersections will be changing as construction progresses. Various sections of the roundabout will require closing, and the detour routes will vary through each phase of construction. The roundabout portion of the project has an estimated completion date of Nov. 2022. The project as a whole has an estimated completion date of July 2023.
Lihu‘e
• Haleko Road, from Rice Street to Pua Loke Street, will be closed for road maintenance work on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., to conduct tree-trimming, grass-cutting and shoulder maintenance along the roadway;
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 1 and 2, vicinity of Laukini Road to Hanama‘ulu Road, Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail repair;
• A right-lane closure is possible on Kuhio Highway in either direction between Kapule Highway and Wailua Bridge Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass and tree cutting.
Koloa
• There will be single-lane closures along portions of Koloa Road from Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for roadway shoulder improvements;
• A roving, single-lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 6.2 and 9.1, vicinity of Weoweopilau Stream and Upa Road, Monday through Friday, Sept. 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for shoulder grading and grass trimming around guardrails.
Kalaheo
• A shoulder closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in the eastbound direction between Hokua Road and Papalina Road Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 19 to 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility work.
