LIHU‘E — The state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife announces the availability of applications for a special feral goat hunt in Hunting Unit A, Kekaha Game Management Area.
Permits will be limited and determined by a lottery. Applications are available at various vendors and all hunter checking stations. Applications must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 14. The lottery to assign dates is Wednesday, Oct. 19.
Applicants may apply for all hunts, and in groups of up to eight hunters. There will be 50 permits available for each two-day slot for archery, muzzleload and rifle hunts. There will be a bag limit of three goats (two must be female) per permit.
Archery only dates are Nov. 1-2, 9-10, 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30, and Dec. 6-7, 13-14 and 20-21.
Muzzleload-only dates are Dec. 27-28, Jan. 3-4, 10-11, 17-18, 24-25 and Jan. 31-Feb. 1, Feb. 6-7 and 13-14.
Rifle-only dates are Feb. 21-22 and 27-28, March 6-7, 13-14, 20-21 and 28-29, and April 3-4, 10-11, 17-18 and 24-25.
