Cecilia Parra Texeira
Cecilia Parra Texeira, of Kapahi passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Kilauea on Sept. 7, 2022, at the age of 86. She was born Nov. 22, 1935, in El Paso, Texas.
She was preceded in death by husband Anthony S. Texeira, grandson Alexander Kaiola Isaiah Texeira, siblings Jesus Perez, Nayo Pineda, Rubeun Perez, Antonio Pineda, Francisco Pineda and Bertha Perez.
She is survived by children Anthony (Kahili) Texeira, Teresa (Jarret) Villanueva, Lucia Texeira, Simon (Cindy) Texeira, Emma Texeira and Irene Texeira, nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, siblings Iwa (Estelle) Texeira, Emma Perez, Alfonso Perez and Alberto Perez, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the Texeira family with arrangements.
Lucia Acas Reonal Riofta
Lucia Acas Reonal Riofta, age 97, peacefully went to be with the Lord in eternal paradise on Aug. 30, 2022, at home in Lihu‘e. Lovingly known as “Lucy” or “Nanang,” she was born on Oct. 24, 1924, in Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
She was employed in her early years in Hawai‘i by Jansup, then by Plantation Hale, where she retired in 1989. She was socially active in her faith as a member of Filipino Catholic Club and in her culture as a member of the Kaua‘i Filipino Women’s Club, where she was part of the women’s choir. She attended many of their social gatherings, and she especially loved the annual Terno Ball gala events, where she proudly wore her elegant native dresses.
She was preceded in death by parents Alipio and Cornelia Reonal, husband Maximo Arconado Riofta, sons Hilario Riofta and Rodolfo Riofta and grandson Marc Cagdan.
She is survived by sons Marcelino (Wilma) Riofta, Pete (Florence) Riofta and Pascual (Valerie) Riofta, daughters Erlinda (Michael) Infante and Aida Riofta, grandchildren Katherine Riofta Cox, Alexander Riofta, Maezie Arroyo, Sarah Casanova, Ashley Riofta, Jonathan Riofta, Jeremy Riofta, Jon Michael Riofta, Samantha Riofta, Charissa Riofta, Cristel Riofta, Christopher Riofta, LeVaughn Riofta, Stephanie Riofta Castanaga, Jasmine Chen, Brooks Infante, Kaylin Colon, Amanda Cagdan, Manny Cagdan and Courtney Cagdan, along with 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral is Friday, Sept. 16, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihu‘e. General viewing is from 9 to 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
David Cecelio Otoman
David Cecelio Otoman passed away on Aug. 16, 2022, in Kekaha, at the age of 69. He was born on July 21, 1953, in Waimea. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a heavy equipment tractor operator at Kekaha Sugar Co.
He was preceded in death by parents Cipriano and Sachie Otoman, brothers Sidney Nishiyama and Michael Otoman, and sister Sherry Ann Otoman.
He is survived by sons Davey John Ancheta of Las Vegas and Kyle Otoman of Austin, Texas, daughter Devie Darla Dale (Taylor) Otoman-Dadius of Las Vegas, eight grandchildren, brothers Gene (Elaine) Otoman of Waimea and Joseph Otoman of Kekaha, sisters Judy (Guy) Fujita of Waimea and Lisa (Robin) Murayama of Niumalu, sisters-in-law Marynel Otoman of ‘Ewa Beach, O‘ahu and Carmelita Nishiyama of Tacoma, Washington, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Garden Island Mortuary, with visitation 9 to 10:30 a.m. and celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers. The family also requests social distancing and face masks be worn.
