Ray (Bull) Kukunaokala Katsumi Harada Sr.
Ray (Bull) Kukunaokala Katsumi Harada Sr., 75, of Wainiha, passed away at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on Aug. 31, 2022. He was born in Kilauea on Aug. 14, 1947, raised in Lumaha‘i and loved living his life as a cowboy and a hunter.
He was preceded in death by parents Allen Genichi and Rose Harada, Allen “Akida” Genichi Harada, Alfred “Yoshi” Harada Sr. and granddaughter Elizabeth “Chieko” Harada.
He is survived by sister Lily “Mieko” (Wilbert “Afuk”) Tai Hook, mother of his children Bethan (Pua) Baptista, children Chanderrae Snyder, Ray ”Kuna” Harada Jr., Zion Harada, Alpha “Harue” Harada and Ka‘ohu Harada, grandchildren Chandlyn “Harue” Harada, Chazlyn “Mieko” Harada, Zen “Chikada” Harada-Sexton, Challen “Katsumi” Harada-Snyder, Zaaron “Akida” Harada-Snyder, Tyren-John “Satoru” Harada-Snyder and Juden-James “Teruo” Harada-Snyder, and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at 5-2950 Kuhio Hwy. at the Wilbert Tai Hook Estate (Kalihiwai). Visitation with the family will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m., with services to follow.

Paul Vincent Canales, 59, of Puhi, passed away on Aug. 17, 2022, at Wilcox Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 23, 1963, in Lihu‘e.
He was preceded in death by father Antonio T. Canales, mother Consalacion M. Canales, and brothers Mark S. Canales and Daniel M. Canales.
He is survived by siblings May (Brian Hughes) of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Michael A. Canales of Puhi, Connie P. Canales of Ha‘ena, David (Tracy) Canales of Puhi, Tony (Gail) Canales of Puhi, Grace (James Thomas) of Nashville, Tennessee, Robert D. Canales of Puhi and Matthew P. Canales of Atlanta, cousins Chico Canales of Kapa‘a, Wedeen and Christy Yaris of O‘ahu, Rodney Canales of Maui, Rodreen Boyd of California, Ron (Melanie) Canales of Maui, Pam and Kathy Canales of California and Rory Salvatore of Lihu‘e, niece Gabrielle Hampton of Oregon, nephew Jacob Winer of Las Vegas, niece Jasmine Christian of O‘ahu, niece Sarah Rose Canales of Lawa‘i, niece Napua Canales of Puhi, niece Raschel Yadao of Nashville, Tennessee, nephew Darren Helliangao of O‘ahu, nephew Judah Thomas of Tennessee, niece Chrisse Thomas of Tennessee and Dominic Canales of Puhi.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date by the family.

Joseph Kahalekulu Kaleiohi
Joseph Kahalekulu Kaleiohi, 85, of Anahola, passed away peacefully at Wilcox Medical Center on Aug. 15, 2022. He was born in Papa‘a on Sept. 6, 1936. He graduated from Kapa‘a High School in 1955. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Hawai‘i Army National Guard, and retired from the Hawai‘i Laborers Union Local 368.
He was preceded in death by parents Ephraim and Evangeline Contrades Kaleiohi, brothers Ephraim, Edward, Ellsworth, Samuel, Robert and Phillip Kaleiohi, and sisters Evangeline Evans, Winifred Cummings, Phyliss Goias and Evelyn Reis.
He is survived by wife Marlene Kaleiohi, children Joseph Koani (Deana) Kaleiohi of San Diego, Michelle Rose Lehuanani (Kirk) Correa of Hanapepe and Matt Kahale (Jaymi) Kaleiohi of Kalihiwai, grandchildren Kayla Nalani Kaleiohi, Dallas Kahale (Malia) Correa, Chloe Lehua (Jordan) Tinjaca, Heather Hi‘ilani Kaleiohi, Shannin-Alana (Keenan) Driver, Kaimana Pomakai Kaleiohi, Malia Ku‘ulei Kaleiohi, Kari-Makenna Correa, Kahale Julio Kaleiohi, Kulia Kaleiohi, Kaliko Lehua Kaleiohi and Kia‘i Kai Kaleiohi, great-grandchildren Jayden and Jayleen Tinjaca, Xyris Costales and Maili-Rose Driver, brother Theodore Kaleiohi, sister Daisy Tailfeathers, and sisters-in-law Shirley Schwem and Lois, Amanda and Lani Kaleiohi.

Lucia Acas Reonal Riofta
Lucia Acas Reonal Riofta, age 97, peacefully went to be with the Lord in eternal paradise on Aug. 30, 2022, at home in Lihu‘e. Lovingly known as “Lucy” or “Nanang,” she was born on Oct. 24, 1924, in Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
She was employed in her early years in Hawai‘i by Jansup, then by Plantation Hale, where she retired in 1989. She was socially active in her faith as a member of Filipino Catholic Club, and in her culture as a member of the Kaua‘i Filipino Women’s Club, where she was part of the women’s choir. She attended many of their social gatherings, and she especially loved the annual Terno Ball gala events, where she proudly wore her elegant native dresses.
She was preceded in death by parents Alipio and Cornelia Reonal, husband Maximo Arconado Riofta, sons Hilario Riofta and Rodolfo Riofta and grandson Marc Cagdan.
She is survived by sons Marcelino (Wilma) Riofta, Pete (Florence) Riofta and Pascual (Valerie) Riofta, daughters Erlinda (Michael) Infante and Aida Riofta, grandchildren Katherine Riofta Cox, Alexander Riofta, Maezie Arroyo, Sarah Casanova, Ashley Riofta, Jonathan Riofta, Jeremy Riofta, Jon Michael Riofta, Samantha Riofta, Charissa Riofta, Cristel Riofta, Christopher Riofta, LeVaughn Riofta, Stephanie Riofta Castanaga, Jasmine Chen, Brooks Infante, Kaylin Colon, Amanda Cagdan, Manny Cagdan and Courtney Cagdan, along with 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral is Friday, Sept. 16, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihu‘e. General viewing is from 9 to 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Keith Brian DeLima Sr.
Keith Brian DeLima Sr. passed away on Aug. 10, 2022, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital, at the age of 60. He was born on April 22, 1962, in Fremont, California. He was a launch ordinance technician.
He was preceded in death by father Allen Rogers DeLima Sr. and brother-in-law Leland Quintal Sr.
He is survived by wife Diann L. DeLima of ‘Ele‘ele, sons Keith Brian DeLima Jr. of ‘Ele‘ele and Kyle Kainoa DeLima of ‘Ele‘ele, mother Yvonne DeLima of Hilo, brothers Allen (Tammy) DeLima Jr. of Texas, Paul DeLima of O‘ahu, Steve (Lori) DeLima of Virginia, Raymond (Toni) DeLima of Hilo and William (Sam) DeLima of Oklahoma, sister Yvonne Quintal of Hilo, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Saturday, Sept. 17, at Holy Cross Church. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Bernice Claire Hiranaka
Bernice Claire Hiranaka, of Lihu‘e, passed away peacefully on Aug. 31, 2022, at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. She was born on Apr. 11, 1932, in Lihu‘e. She retired from Kaua‘i Surf as a cocktail server.
She was preceded in death by husband Mamoru Hiranaka, daughter Marla Hiranaka, parents Daniel and Rosalina Rapozo and sisters Elizabeth Oyamot and Clara Nuivo.
She is survived by sons Leslie (Lynn) Hiranaka and Russell (Cathy) Hiranaka, grandchildren Bradley, Sean, Brice and Michelle, six great-grandchildren, brother Donald Rapozo, sisters Florence Oyamoto, Gwen Zaima, Priscilla (Bob) Rego, Bernadette (Griffen) Hodges and Beverly Rapozo, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Sept. 24, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery.

Perla Fernandez Ortal passed away on July 23, 2022, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 73.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1949, in Dagupan City, Philippines.
She was preceded in death by parents Benito and Paciencia Fernandez.
She is survived by husband Denny Ortal of Waimea, sons Dean (Krislee) Ortal of Waimea and Devin Ortal of Japan, daughter Pinky (Chad) Yoshimoto of O‘ahu, grandchildren Cole and Mia Yoshimoto and Tiara and Taylee Ortal-Kashima, brother Cesar Fernandez of Kaumakani, sisters Norma Fernandez of Kaumakani and Virginia Fernandez of Kaumakani, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Saturday, Sept. 17, at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m., and eulogy at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass.

Paul Kaipo Pomaikai Jr. passed away on Sept. 23, 2021, at the age of 48. He was born on Nov. 15, 1972.
He is survived by children Edward R Navas, Paul “Pauly Boy” Navas, Kalib Navas and Kodi Navas, who all reside with their mother Thelma Navas of Nanakuli, O‘ahu, mother Lori (Lincoln) Akuna, father Paul (Donna) Pomaikai Sr., siblings Yasumori (Elsie) Pomaikai, Shyla (Richard) Colipano, Justin (Kanae) Morikawa, Jason (Michele) Padilla, Derrick (Jensen) Costido, Desiree Pomaikai and Cole Pomaikai.
A gathering of life is Friday, Sept. 23, at Hanama‘ulu Beach Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
