Lucia Acas Reonal Riofta
Lucia Acas Reonal Riofta, age 97, peacefully went to be with the Lord in eternal paradise on Aug. 30, 2022, at home in Lihu‘e. Lovingly known as “Lucy” or “Nanang,” she was born on Oct. 24, 1924, in Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
She was employed in her early years in Hawai‘i by Jansup, then by Plantation Hale, where she retired in 1989. She was socially active in her faith as a member of Filipino Catholic Club, and in her culture as a member of the Filipino Womens Club, where she was part of the women’s choir. She attended many of their social gatherings and she especially loved the annual Terno Ball gala events, where she proudly wore her elegant native dresses.
She was preceded in death by parents Alipio and Cornelia Reonal, husband Maximo Arconado Riofta, sons Hilario Riofta and Rodolfo Riofta and grandson Marc Cagdan.
She is survived by sons Marcelino (Wilma) Riofta, Pete (Florence) Riofta and Pascual (Valerie) Riofta, daughters Erlinda (Michael) Infante and Aida Riofta, grandchildren Katherine Riofta Cox, Alexander Riofta, Maezie Arroyo, Sarah Casanova, Ashley Riofta, Jonathan Riofta, Jeremy Riofta, Jon Michael Riofta, Samantha Riofta, Charissa Riofta, Cristel Riofta, Christopher Riofta, LeVaughn Riofta, Stephanie Riofta Castanaga, Jasmine Chen, Brooks Infante, Kaylin Colon, Amanda Cagdan, Manny Cagdan and Courtney Cagdan, along with 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral is Friday, Sept. 16, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihu‘e. General viewing is from 9 to 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
