Mahalo for marathon finish moment
The true hero of the marathon 2022
I would like to share the most-powerful thing I saw at the marathon last Sunday.
It was at the finish line, before passing through the arc of the end of the race.
I saw a hero MOM who was pushing the stroller of his son Joshua Iloreta, who ran for the third time in the half marathon. She was getting her son out of the stroller and carrying him through the arc to finish the race.
It was POWERFUL and touching to see her strength and love for her child, her smile on her face and how proud she was radiating from her heart.
I went to approach her after what I witnessed and I told her how much I admire her for her kind heart and how much I connect with her because I am also a MAMI, and when it comes to our children, nothing is heavy or too much to carry.
I will store that mental picture in my mind for the rest of my life, especially when I will need deeper inspiration to follow.
Mahalo for a fabulous run, for Mayor Carvalho’s powerful voice singing, for the hula dancers, for the Hawaiian aunty at her amazing sacred chanting at the beginning of the race, for the Kaua‘i hula dancers blowing a pu‘u (conch shell) as a tradition in the Hawaiian culture. We are proud of our island and people.
Kaua‘i, you showed your beauty. What a gift to live here.
Much appreciation.
