LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol received a visit from leadership Thursday to honor the pilots who died in a plane crash earlier this year.
Pilots Jim Degnan of Princeville and David Parker of Kapa‘a were flying a routine tsunami-alert training mission March 20 when their plane crashed near the Kalalau Lookout.
CAP-USAF Pacific Liaison Region Commander Jonathan Slottje, Reserve Forces Director John Burnett and Hawai‘i Wing Regional Operations Director Edward Gelzinis traveled to Kaua‘i to present the Kaua‘i Composite Squadron with a plaque paying tribute to the fallen airmen.
“On 20 March 2022, two fellow Airmen were lost supporting the state of Hawai‘i and our great nation,” the plaque reads.
“We pass on our sincerest condolences to the Civil Air Patrol friends and families of David Parker and James Degnan. We remember David and James,” the plaque states.
