HANAPEPE — Takazee Thomas touched the ball on all scores Sunday when the Kapa‘a Eagles 12 and Under squad shut down Kekaha, 32-0, during one of eight contests waged at the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Football League games at Hanapepe Stadium.
Thomas scored on touchdowns of 21 yards and 4 yards, and a kickoff return as well as hitting Pierce Rosario on a 36-yard scoring pass in the shutout, all touchdowns being graced by two-point points after touchdown.
Lihu‘e’s King Pitts led the Lihu‘e 12 and Under tackle team to a 34-12 showing over Hanapepe by pulling in two scoring passes from Justin Lopez (7 yards) and Drake Javier (70 yards), and running back a muffed punt fumble.
Hanapepe answered the Lihu‘e surge on a 75-yard touchdown from Kepa Pablo and a 5-yard score from Dryden Arbilera.
Other scoring in the 12U game saw Lihu‘e QB Lopez hit Javier on scoring passes of 35 yards and 62 yards before Lihu‘e iced the win on a blocked punt in the end zone for a safety.
Kekaha notched two safeties and Keljhen Tomacder marked a 6-yard touchdown in one of two eight-player scrimmage games contested under the rapidly-warming Hanapepe sunshine, where Kekaha dropped an 18-10 decision to the Kapa‘a Eagles’ 10 and Under team.
Paxton Rosario ran for two touchdowns and Triton Serrato intercepted a Kekaha airball and ran it back 14 yards for the Kapa‘a scores.
The final eight-person scrimmage saw the Hanapepe Colts’ 14 and Under team shut out Kekaha, 21-0 behind two scores from Kolby Correa — a 17 yard charge and a 34-yard run. Correa also pulled in a 45-yard scoring pass from his signal-caller for the final score, all of which were graced by Titus Daligcon PATs.
