Melissa said the center is connected to the food insecurity issue by having more than half a dozen of the farmer participating in the Pau Hana Market (yes, it starts at 3 p.m., Mondays) displaying the tell-tale orange Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program placards, and new Kaua‘i RSVP director Mary Pigao and the volunteers (mark the calendars for Sept. 9 when Kaua‘i RSVP and the Kukui Grove host its Make A Difference Day celebrating volunteerism!) delivering produce boxes during the pandemic shutdown…Harvey Kinoshita and the East Kaua‘i Lions were doing the Adopt-a-Highway cleanup along the Veterans Memorial Highway before checking out Debbie Yanagihara craft fair (she coordinated the Friday Kaua‘i Beach Resort that benefited the 43rd Visitor Industry Charity Walk, too!) where a portion of her monthly appearance benefits the Kaua‘i Veterans Center.
