PUHI – The Kaua‘i Humane Society is waiving adoption fees for all animals through Aug. 31, in celebration of the end of Clear the Shelters adoption month.
The Humane Society has been over capacity for several months now, hitting maximum kennel space for the second time this summer last week. KHS currently has 340 animals in its care.
“It’s been great partnering with Clear the Shelters this month, and we are so excited to bring the event to a crescendo for these final days by offering waived fees of all of our wonderful cats and dogs, along with the swag bags which were kindly donated by NBCUniversal Local,” Executive Director Nicole Schafer Crane said.
To view adoptable animals, visit kauaihumane.org and click “Animals.”
Interested adopters can apply for animals directly on the animal’s profile or email customerservice@kauaihumane.org. Staff will reach out to the adopter to schedule an appointment.
KHS can also assist in virtual meet-and-greets and off-island adoptions. The humane society recently concluded Mission Mainland 2.0, where they offered a massive discount for off-island adoptions.
“Even after the successful Mission Mainland 2.0 we are still struggling with a large dog population and many kittens returning from foster,” Schafer Crane said. “So, we hope that those returning from their summer travel and getting back to their daily routines are open to bringing a companion into their home.”
