MANA — Fabian Banasihan pushed his ‘84 Chevy Monte Carlo just a little too much in the final run of the Muscle V8 class during the most recent Garden Isle Racing Association’s drag races that was run Aug. 6 at Kaua‘i Raceway Park.
Facing Lacin Montemayor in an ‘87 Chevy S10, Banasihan pushed the Monte Carlo to reach 113.36 miles an hour on a 12-second dial-in that was set during the earlier test and tune runs down the quarter mile. Banasihan’s efforts came up empty, as the driver of the Monte Carlo broke out of his dial-in by .02 second (11.98 ET), giving the top spot to Montemayor who cruised the S10 to a 12.04 elapsed time, reaching 106.27 mph on a 12.01 dial-in.
The next Garden Isle Racing Association drag races will be the Labor Day races to be run on Sept. 3 at the Mana Raceway. Tickets are available online at TheFOAT Ticketing at http://tickets.thefoat.com/GardenIsle.
