HONOLULU — The Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation and the Hawai‘i Medical Service Association announced an agreement has been reached on a new three-year contract for HHSC to provide health-care services for HMSA commercial members at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea and Samuel Mahelona Medical Hospital in Kapa‘a.
HONOLULU — The Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation and the Hawai‘i Medical Service Association announced an agreement has been reached on a new three-year contract for HHSC to provide health-care services for HMSA commercial members at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea and Samuel Mahelona Medical Hospital in Kapa‘a.
“We are glad we were able to achieve a fair contract that will help to close the payment gap,” said Dr. Linda Rosen, HHSC president and CEO.
“As a public hospital system reliant on state funding, we have a fiduciary responsibility to every taxpayer in Hawai‘i to seek fair payment from insurers for the health-care services that we provide.”
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with HHSC, which allows for continued access to health care across the state of Hawai‘i, especially on the neighbor islands,” said Jennifer Diesman, HMSA senior vice president, government policy and advocacy.
In addition to the two Kaua‘i hospitals, HHSC facilities and clinics affected by the new HMSA contract are Hilo Medical Center, Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua, Ka‘u Hospital, Kohala Hospital and Kona Community Hospital, all on Hawai‘i Island.
