KOKE‘E — Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a brush fire that broke out on Koke‘e Road Wednesday.
No injuries were reported, and no structures were threatened.
Personnel with the Hanapepe and Waimea fire stations, Tender 1, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, KFD personnel were dispatched to a brush fire near mile-marker 3 on Koke‘e Road.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and discovered brush and small trees on fire in a quarter-mile acre area on the makai side of Koke‘e Road. Personnel aboard Truck 7 were positioned at the north end of the fire, while firefighters aboard Engine 7 anchored the south side of the blaze. After the fire was contained, Tender 1 and Truck 6 personnel assisted with extinguishment.
Officials with the Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife arrived shortly after to inspect the area.
The scene was cleared around 9:25 p.m.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
