Roseanne Jerves, the KPWFL cheer coordinator, said 10 teams from four of the five KPWFL associations took part in the learning experience led by Kellie O’Donnel and her staff at All Attitude Athletics of O‘ahu. The trainers included past and former high school and collegiate athletes who used their time to give back to the sport that taught them so much.
Cheer is an equal component to tackle football in the National Pop Warner program, and cheer squads will be starting training with the tackle football players during the training period that started Aug. 1 on Kaua‘i for the KPWFL associations in Kapa‘a, Lihu‘e, Koloa, Hanapepe, and Kekaha.
The teams make their first appearance at the annual Jamboree that will take place Aug. 28 with scheduled league games to follow.
