WAILUA HOUSELOTS — The Rookies took both ends of their makeup games Saturday to finish the Kaua‘i Senior Softball season at the top of the standings with an undefeated record.
On July 16, the Rookies were 21-5 winners over Imi‘Ola in a single contest. The team based out of Kaumakani, the defending state champions in the competitive A division, followed that with a seven-run over the Keonimana Gents, 19-12 on July 23, and closed out the season with a 21-9 romp over Solid Steel for a 25-0 season record.
With that, the Rookies will likely be joined by Barteks, which finished 23-2, in the A bracket of the 46th Hawai‘i State Senior Softball Tournament that will contest between Aug. 2 and 5 at the Patsy Mink Central O‘ahu Regional Park.
The league’s third- and fourth-place finishers, Keonimana Gents and Imi‘Ola likely make the B bracket. Based on league standings, Solid Steel and the Aloha Kia Lihu‘e A’s will most likely be in the C Bracket, with the Bushwackas and Kawaihau participating in the D bracket, pending any changes made before next week’s tourney.
The Hanama‘ulu Hillsiders are likely in the E bracket, East Kaua‘i Legends in F, and West Kaua‘i will be in he G/H bracket.
