Tahitian wood carver Tepairu Manea sounds a toere Sunday during the Wailua Creators Fair at the Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i Wailua Bay. Manea said he’ll have his drums and other carvings at Heiva i Kaua‘i that takes place Aug. 6 and 7 at the Kapa‘a Beach Park.

Conrad “Kona” Giminiz and Kekai “Chockie” Chock of Kekona are the 2022 winner of a Na Hoku Hanohano award for jazz album of the year, and show their awards during a break in sets Sunday at the Wailua Creators Fair at the Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i Wailua Bay.

The writers of “Sassy Mynah Bird” were in the front row, cheering the loudest, Wednesday when Kekai Chock and Conrad “Kona” Giminiz of the musical duo Kekona were named winners of the jazz album of the year during the 45th Annual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards in Honolulu, said Chock Sunday at the Wailua Creators Fair at the Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i Wailua Bay.
