Kupuna Ihi Kaneali‘i had a crazy busy schedule Friday, starting out with Shirley Simbre-Medeiros (KipuKai Kuali‘i was there, too) and the “Kaua‘i Kupuna” jamming in the lobby of the Lihu‘e Plantation building (Dr. Monty Downs said he’s a kupuna, too, so was going to check it out after banking) before going to volunteer at the Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery (was National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration intern Abigail Seibel able to catch the Wednesday king tide — it was pretty massive?), and then, staying for dinner with the Aloha Friday entertainment package at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e. That Peggy Lake can belt out some tunes! And it’s not over because kupuna does book-reading today at Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery.

Political newbie Rachel Secretario was able to get some advice from gubernatorial candidate Duke Aiona Thursday during the Isenberg Park meet-and-greet event, where Team DEA (it’s the summer league version of the Waimea High softball team!) was playing Level Up, and coach Max Manera was off-island doing a series of basketball tournament play.
Gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Rep. Kai Kahele brought his family along to experience some time at the Kawaikini New Century Public Charter School in Puhi before moving to include a stop at the Back to School Bash at KGC and a fundraising event Saturday night. Hopefully, he had time to visit the Hilo Majors Little League team that’s battling at the Hawai‘i Little League State Majors Tournament flying at the main diamond of the Mayor Bryan Baptiste Sports Complex in Kapa‘a.
What? And Seth Womble is wrapping up a mural project in ‘Ele‘ele?
