KALAHEO — The county Department of Public Works and its contractor Maui Kupuno Builders announced that portions of Pu‘u Road in Kalaheo are closed now through Thursday, July 21, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for road-resurfacing work.
Lane closures will occur during the following dates and locations:
• Monday and Tuesday, July 18 and July 19, from 2121 Pu‘u Road to Lolo Road. One-way traffic headed eastbound will be allowed for local traffic only;
• Wednesday to Friday, July 20 to 22, single-lane closures with alternating traffic in both directions from Papalina Road to 2121 Pu‘u Road. Anyone with questions or concerns may contact Maui Kupono Builders at 808-369-1800 or Todd Ozaki at the County of Kaua‘i at 808-241-4845;
Kapa‘a
• The DPW and Grace Pacific LLC announced that portions of Kawaihau Road will be closed from Monday to Friday, July 18 to 22, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additionally, the intersection of Mailihuna, Hau‘a‘ala and Kawaihau roads will experience temporary traffic shifts. These closures are necessary for clearing and grubbing work, roadway excavation and sidewalk construction. • A right-lane closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway in either direction between mile markers 4 and 6, Pu‘uana Road to mile marker 6, will take place Monday through Friday, July 18 to 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail repair;
‘Oma‘o
• A right-lane closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway in either direction between mile markers 7 and 9, Maluhia Road and Upa Road, will take place Monday through Friday, July 18 to 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail repair;
‘Ele‘ele
• A right-lane closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway in either direction between mile markers 14 and 16, mile marker 14 to Waialo Road, will occur Monday through Friday, July 18 to 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail repair;
Hanapepe
• A right-lane closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway in either direction is scheduled between mile markers 16 and 18, Waialo Road to mile marker 18, Monday through Friday, July 18 to 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail repair;
Waimea
• A right-lane closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway in either direction is scheduled between mile markers 20 and 22 Monday through Friday, July 18 to 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail repair;
Wailua
• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road, will take place for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements;
• A two-lane closure of Kuhio Highway in either direction between mile markers 5.6 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road, is planned nightly from today through Friday, July 22, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for paving for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements;
• A full closure of the Wailua River mauka bridge on Kuhio Highway between the Kapa‘a bypass road and Leho Drive will occur nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from today through Friday, July 22, for geotechnical drilling. • A right-lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road is possible in either direction between mile markers 2 and 6, Lilia Place to the end of the route, Monday through Friday, July 18 to 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree and grass cutting and filling of drop-off areas on the side of the road;
Hanalei
• A right-lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 3.4 and 3.9, Waioli bridge to Waipa bridge, Monday through Friday, July 18 to 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree cutting and debris removal.
