LIHU‘E — “No, MyMummy is not for sale,” said Garden Isle Quilter Lesley Morris, Thursday while helping to set quilts for the opening of the Garden Isle Quilters exhibit and sale Friday at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery at the Kukui Grove Center. “It just wants to come and watch the quilts.”
The exhibit opens Friday with a Meet the Quilters reception from 5 to 7 p.m. with light refreshments being served.
This serves as a perfect opportunity to meet the five quilters — Julie Fregeau, Jeni Hardy, Lea Ingram, Lesley Morris, and Toni Wass — as well as get an opportunity for first looks at the more than 100 quilts that are available for viewing for just eight days before the next KSA exhibit.
“We have eight days, including two Saturdays,” said Ingram, also a KSA member and exhibitor during some of the KSA big show. “Viewing is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays. All other days, including Sunday, the show is available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.”
The exhibit features a diverse display of quilts ranging from everyday quilts, fine art quilts, and bed quilts, many of which are ready to carry away. Shipping is available for quilts heading to off-island homes.
