Take care, Kaua‘i.
Everyone’s getting sick (the Puhi Shell gas station is closing at 7 p.m. because one of their employees got sick, and despite the sign-on incentive, they’re still looking for more help). And how many couldn’t attend the Mahalo, Tropic Care lu‘au because someone was not healthy?
And how many TGI people are not 100 percent?
No, July 4 is coming up this weekend, and we need to be healthy so we can celebrate the nice weather (no disturbances on the radar) and Independence Day (while being healthy). They’ve got the Kekaha Family Fun Day coming up Saturday.
Kudos, Cece Kilma and the Marshallese Association of Kaua‘i on hosting a great Jemenei Day luncheon where the state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office set up a tent with family-oriented goodies like free bike helmets, kiddie books, free COVID-19 tests (no limit!), and even those dental/oral kits that were left behind by the Tropic Care Kaua‘i folks.
Kudos, too, to Jasmine Wong of the Young Lawyers Division, on hosting the free legal-services tent at the Grove Farm Market Saturday as part of Law Week, and Marlene Duarte said Grove Farm’s already ordered the big tent for an upcoming bon dance.
In the meantime, Mayette Loseto had her hands full trying to explain why prices are so high, and Little Me was going off (OK, who set off the bell?) while Adam Coyaso juggled two, maybe three customers at a time who were craving those fresh coconuts, and William and Buffy Trujillo were supporting the Kamehameha Schools’ alumni.
OK, time to go check out the Pau Hana Market at 3 p.m. at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
Again, stay well and stay safe!
