KILAUEA — The Zonta Club of Hanalei took advantage of gorgeous Saturday weather and breathtaking garden views at the home of one of its members to host 32 scholarship recipients and their guests, including several donors, to an afternoon reception in Kilauea.
KILAUEA — The Zonta Club of Hanalei took advantage of gorgeous Saturday weather and breathtaking garden views at the home of one of its members to host 32 scholarship recipients and their guests, including several donors, to an afternoon reception in Kilauea.
Topping the list of recipients are recent high school graduates as well as students currently attending institutions of higher learning, Erin Clark of the Kaua‘i Community College nursing program is the recipient of a $3,000 Kirsten Salmon Memorial Award.
Kirra Lindman, a student at the University of California Berkeley, earned congratulations from the Hunt Family Foundation and a $3,000 award.
Recipients of $2,000 Zonta Club of Hanalei Foundation awards include Kayla Bronco-Maxwell of Kapa‘a High School, Kirra Carvalho of Kaua‘i High School, Dominica DeTrolio of Island School, Jessica Drent of Kapa‘a High, Zsa Zsa DuBose of Trinity University, Mayumi Fulgencio of Lewis and Clark College, Jessica Hreljac of California State Polytechnic, Zooey Johnson of Island School, Bryanna Molina of Seabury Hall on Maui, Anais Offley of the University of San Francisco, Eve Ohai of Kapa‘a High School, Sophia Riley of Lewis and Clark College and Haven Sadler of Island School.
The Zonta Club of Hanalei is dedicated to achieving gender equity in education and supports scholarships for women and girls of all ages. Since 2009, the Zonta Club of Hanalei has given nearly $200,000 to deserving women and girls of Kaua‘i.
Candidates are selected based on financial need, clarity of goals, volunteerism and academic performance.
