Kudos, Mark Perriello, Beth Tokioka, Jaye Gayagas-Youn and the many, many hands of the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce on a great second quarter general membership meeting at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach in Waipouli.

There, more than $10,000 in scholarships were distributed, and Mayor Derek Kawakami came home from his papa duty of getting Hailee Kawakami squared away at school.
Adriana Hernandez was one of those six scholarship recipients, and was up early Friday to help dad Sal set up for the Kaua‘i Fire Department change of command (congratulations, newKFD Chief Michael Gibson!).
Newly-promoted Fire Fighter III Travis Miyazaki got to oversee audio duties for uncle Judge Randal Valenciano, who officiated the swearing-in and signing Gibson’s oath of office. Now it’s official! And, great job, “Sue Kanoho’s Husband!” Solomon Kanoho.
Nice to see Mike Contrades representing U.S. Rep. Kai Kahele in congradulating the new chief.
Theresa Koki was busy getting ready for the Drug Summit (did you register yet?) coming up at the Kaua‘i Beach Resort near Hanama‘ulu, and Kaua‘i County Councilmember Billy DeCosta was worrying about his papa duty since his son was in California playing in a baseball tournament there.
OK, time to see if there’s any malasada left at the Wailua Bay Crafter’s Fair at the Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i Wailua Bay (it’s open from 8:30 a.m.).
