‘OMA‘O — The Garden Island Motorcycle Club hosted its ninth annual Boys’ Day Hare &Hound Race and Poker Fun Run last month.
The organization’s emphasis was to celebrate Hawai‘i’s children and their families. More than 500 participants came out to enjoy the two-day riding event.
”Many thanks to the Knudsen Trust and David Rita, who granted access to lands for participants to enjoy miles of roaming trails and hills throughout a well-plotted course in ʻOmaʻo,” a press release said. “Along the way riders were treated to spectacular scenic views and motivational signs of encouragement.”
After the ride, participants enjoyed music by Kustom Sounds Kauai, food and refreshments donated by Da Crack Restaurant, fishpond activity, trophies and plenty of prizes.
One of Sunday’s highlights the awarding of new Kawasaki KLX 110 motorcycles to grand-prize winners Makana Brekenridge and Brooklynn Martin-Haumea.
“Mahalo to Danny and Alex of Kaua‘i Motorsports and Antone of Kipu Ranch for the incredible donations,” the release said.
“This year’s event was dedicated to our dear friend, Eric Senkus, who passed away last October. Eric helped cut many of the trails in ‘Oma‘o. We will surely miss him,” the release said.
