“It has been an exciting time for our mentees, aka ‘Bridge Kids,’ and their families,” said a press release.
After receiving multiple scholarships and college-acceptance letters, they have made their college choices. They are: Angeline Chan, San Diego State; Aiden Gregerson, Columbia; Bill Lin, Iowa State University; Frances Muana, Georgetown; Kailee Oyama, Santa Clara University; Ella Parsons, Vanderbilt.
The Bridge: Kaua‘i to College is a nonprofit that matches volunteer adult mentors with local high school students to help choose appropriate colleges, complete successful applications, plan finances and prepare for college.
“In addition to free one-on-one mentoring, we help fund SAT-preparation classes and tutoring, college application and preparation fees, critically needed technology, as well as scholarships for summer enrichment programs,” a release said.
