Happy Father’s Day, Kaua‘i!
Happy Father’s Day, Kaua‘i!
There’s still time to get down to the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor, where the Nawiliwili Yacht Club is bringing back the popular Father’s Day Keiki Fishing Contest that starts at 10 a.m. with a lot of prizes.
Registered keiki (you can register at the Kaua‘i Sailing Association building) not only get a morning of fun fishing, they also get a yacht dog (that’s a Sharon Gibson term) and cold drink. Charlotte Ross said even Jim Saylor is flying back from O‘ahu where Fast Company is participating in a summer series to take part in the fun.
Happy birthday, Capt. Denise Rodriguez of the Tropic Care Kaua‘i clinic at Kapa‘a Middle School, where she spent her birthday (you could tell because of the lei) processing patients in the Innovative Readiness Training program, and kudos to site Officer in Charge Maj. Joanna Nelms for finding fun while hosting DV Day guests.
Larry Rivera just got out of the hospital, but that couldn’t stop him from helping launch the Kaua‘i Art Festival (Estelle Estep of Shells of a Lifetime couldn’t paddle Friday evening), and what an amazing blessing by Puna Dawson, who got help from her sister Charlani Kalama. Kudos, Mel Bell-Grey, for leading the fundraising event (they want to turn two donated Matson shipping containers into classrooms and editing stations at Eyes Wide Open Productions) through June 26.
Kaua‘i Society of Artists’ Stephen Lucas said people have two weeks to enjoy “Paint Happens,” an exhibit by Lucas, Fran Kalb, Joan Luzney and Betty Jean Nativio (Rose Anne Jones said she paints everything!). The KSA gallery is open daily from noon until 6 p.m., and until 7 p.m. on Fridays.
