LIHU‘E — Solid Steel was just a run better than Kawaihau, 17-16, Saturday when the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League continued its schedule at the Wailua Houselots Park and ‘Ele‘ele Park.
After holding off the Kawaihau threat, Solid Steel posted its fourth consecutive win in the league.
The Rookies, continuing its undefeated streak through the season, kept on blazing with a 21-7 win over the Keonimana Gents, a strong contender for lead in the league.
Although official results of the super senior softball league were not available at press time, the lunchtime crowd of the games played Friday at Isenberg Park saw the league-leading Ahukini Wharf Rats drop to the Cane Cutters, and Na Koa Kupuna was victorious over the Tsunami.
“Where dem fullas?” said Garrett Agena of Na Koa Kupuna, and also of the Rookies, during Friday lunch at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e. “They should be here anytime now because the game should be over. Ahukini Wharf Rats got nice shirts. Even I bought one.”
Games in the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League continue Saturday with contests scheduled for Peter Rayno Sr. Park in Hanama‘ulu and and Sonoda Field in Kaumakani. First pitches at both fields fly at 9 a.m.
