LIHU‘E — There is no player of the year for either girls or boys golf, and there is no coach of the year, on the list of Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation golf all-stars.
Island School boys picked up four of the six available spots, and Kaua‘i High School girls filled in five of the six spots.
The KIF golf championship was taken by the Island School Voyager boys, led by the Summerhays brothers, Lucas, a freshman, and Spencer, a senior. Kaua‘i High School girls were unchallenged for the team competition.
After chasing Lucas through most of the season that was played at different courses, Spencer Summerhays turned his game following the outing at the Princeville Makai, and finished strong as the KIF top boys individualist.
He was joined by Ema-Lani Ebesu, who played consistently throughout the season to give Island School three of the four titlist spots — top boys individualist, top girls individualist and top boys team.
The boys golf will enter the 2023 season with two freshmen on the courses, while the girls return five of the six all-stars, with two juniors, a sophomore and two freshmen.
