PO‘IPU — The Kaua‘i Poke Fest with Sam Choy &Friends is back, Saturday at the Koloa Landing Resort starting at 4 p.m.
Following a break caused by the pandemic, the Kaua‘i Poke Fest is slightly ahead of schedule, opening in May with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Kaua‘i Visitor Industry Charity Walk presented by the Hawai‘i Lodging &Tourism Association Kaua‘i Chapter.
That annual walk benefiting more than 50 local nonprofits was also impacted by the pandemic, and is scheduled to take place on Aug. 20 at Vidinha Stadium in Lihu‘e.
Choy, regarded as the godfather of poke by event organizers, returns to do his poke demonstration as well as oversee the poke competition and tasting that is centered around the lawn fronting the ballrooms at the resort.
The event also features live entertainment and hula.
Tickets, including VIP tickets that gain entry an hour ahead of general admission, are available at kauaipokefest.com.
On the website, guests are able to book accommodations for the 2022 Poke Fest for a special discount on deluxe studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom villas. These accommodations come with two free general-admission tickets.
Following the VIP opening, doors to the Koloa Grand Ballroom open to guests who are invited to try all the poke from the field of professional and amateur chef contestants.
