LIHU‘E — Aaron Uyeda of the Rookies was able to enjoy the celebration of champions Saturday because his Kaua‘i Senior Softball team The Rookies had their game put on hold due to one of the teams having COVID-19 positive tests.
More COVID protocols were re-instated by the league, as coordintor Michael Curtis announced, “Due to spikes in COVID cases on Kaua‘i, and in our league, we need to invoke the masks on umpires, catcher and base coaches rule.”
Additionally, the balls being used during the contest should be wiped between innings, he wrote in an email to all teams.
The senior softball league continues this Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, with contests scheduled for Wailua Houselots Park and Puhi Park.
The first pitches at both venues are launched at 9 a.m.
