HANALEI — The state Department of Transportation announced a right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 1.2 and 2.2, Ohiki Road and Aku Road, Monday through Friday, May 23 to 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass and tree cutting.
Kilauea
• A right-lane closure of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 24 and 25.5, Kalihiwai Road and vicinity of Kalihiwai Bridge, will take place Monday through Friday, May 23 to 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree trimming;
Kapa‘a
• The county Department of Public Works and Grace Pacific LLC announced that portions of Mailihuna, Hau‘a‘ala and Kawaihau roads will be closed from Monday through Friday, May 23 to May 27, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation and sidewalk construction, subject to weather conditions and other factors. • A single-lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 9.8 and 10.8, vicinity of Kapoli Street and Mailihuna Road, from tonight through Friday, May 27, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., for pavement reconstruction and resurfacing;
Wailua
• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road, takes place Monday through Friday, May 23 to 27, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements;
• A single-lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapaa bypass road, Wednesday through Friday, May 25 to 27, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for driveway apron replacement work;
• A right-lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road is possible in either direction between mile markers 0.4 and 1.9, Monday through Friday, May 23 to May 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree cutting;
Hanama‘ulu
• Sections of ‘Akuli Street and Hanama‘ulu Road will be under short lane closures weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, from Monday, May 23 to Saturday, June 4, for improvements to pedestrian access to the King Kaumuali‘i Elementary School, including adding new sidewalks, crosswalks and ADA ramps and repaving and restriping Hanama‘ulu Road. • A right-lane closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 2.4 and 6.7, vicinity of Anonui Street and Maluhia Road, from Monday through Friday, May 23 to 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for landscaping of shoulders and around guardrails;
Lawai
• A scheduled closure will occur at the turn lane off Koloa Road onto Kaumuali‘i Highway from Monday through Friday, May 23 to 27, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., to perform underground utility improvement work. Eastbound motorists from the South Side, Koloa and Lawa‘i are encouraged to take Maluhia Road to access Kaumuali‘i Highway;
Kalaheo
• The DPW and its contractor Maui Kupuno Builders announced that a portion of Waha Road in Kalaheo, from Papalina to Niho roads, will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, May 25 and May 26, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting, for road resurfacing work.
