LIHU‘E — The Fifth Judicial Circuit courts presented the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i with $1,065.50 Wednesday, representing the proceeds from a one-day bake sale coordinated by Kelli Barsness.
“This was small kine,” said Chief Judge Randal Valenciano. “Kelli coordinated the event, and baked a lot of things for the bake sale, too. This was not like the ones we used to have before the pandemic. We did it more for team and morale building, and we sold a lot of bento.”
Tisha Remigio and Malia Banquel represented the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i in accepting the donation.
“This is more than 2,100 meals,” Remigio said.
The Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i recently hosted a 300-family food distribution in the Lihu‘e area to help people struggling with the post-pandemic inflation and balancing budgets.
