The Mermaid (yes, she’s real life!) was thrilled that Koko got to do his gyotaku (fish printing) at the Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery, and got a lei to boot at Small Fry Saturday when everybody (yes, Taylor and Karen Shigemoto of Hawai‘iUSA Federal Credit Union were waiting to get some Genki Sushi!) was cranking for Mother’s Day (Mayette Loseto at the Grove Farm Market came with a Mother’s Day story!).

Morgan Lopez (yes, she wears a Hawai‘iUSA FCU cap, too) had on her Kaua‘i Lions Club hat (so did sister Muraiah Moises) for the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i food distribution (yes, Marilyn Matsumoto and Bev Muraoka, we saw all that food in the car) and then both ladies switched hats for the First Saturday (kudos, leadership team of the Kapa‘a Business Association) where Anela (remember her as the dog that was shot?) was looking for a forever home away from the Kaua‘i Humane Society that is her current residence, and artist Wende Thomas said to look for the chicken at the “Washed Up” exhibit that opens Friday at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists’ gallery at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
Jakki Nelson and Elena Camat were both having long days following their tenure at the Grove Farm Market, where David Hinazumi had duty providing a tour for state Rep. Sylvia Luke, a candidate for lieutenant governor (yes, she was helping at the food distribution, too) before taking up posts in Kapa‘a (Uncle Mikey had photos of all those peeled bananas ready to become “rounds” for the Wailua Granola Co.), where Opinder Diol of Shakti Indian Cuisine said she started.
