The halau will be participating in the “Art of Hula: Language of the Heart” at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
And kudos to kumu Sabra Kauka, who has been working with another halau to design their costuming for this year’s event. And when are those Kaua‘i Made vendors supposed to leave for the craft fair?
U.S. Rep. Kai Kahele and his family left just in time for the start of the Merrie Monarch Festival, and U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono is coinciding one of her trips to Hawai‘i to take in the craft fair, too.
Ryan Fussell (the Army is collecting contributions for the Teacher Appreciation Day at the Pau Hana Market at Kukui Grove Cener) said Kahele stopped by to visit with the Rotary Club before heading out to the Kekaha community Easter egg hunt with his family. Kahele even got to meet Sgt. Maj. Keith Castaneda and all those Waimea High School JROTC volunteers who helped with the egg hunt.
Kudos to Kay Hill and the West Kaua‘i Lions Club, and Sandi Sterker of the Koloa Lions Club (that repaired sign looks gorgeous!) for getting the Lions Past International Director Al Brandee and Dr. Maureen Murphy (she said they come from “The Big Island” in New York) to the egg hunt, where Al was able to get out of the way of all those egg hunters.
