LIHU‘E — Over the years, the Kaua‘i High School Foundation has awarded scholarships to Kaua‘i High graduating seniors. Funding for the KHS annual scholarships comes from alumni.
Last year, 18 scholarships totaling $54,500 were given to 2021 KHS graduating seniors. The foundation is a nonprofit public charity, and Kaua‘i High is its sole beneficiary.
Following is a list of the foundation’s scholarship winners in 2021, and the sources of the scholarships:
Two-year college and vocational school
• Jai P. Ganun, $2,500, Kaua‘i Community College, civil engineering; The Milt KHS ‘60 and Debbie Valera Scholarship;
• Nakoah A. Dizol, $2,500, Honolulu Community College, fire science; The Milt KHS ‘60 and Debbie Valera Scholarship;
• Tyise Lynne Dailey, $2,500, Kaua‘i Community College, business administration: The Milt KHS ‘60 and Debbie Valera Scholarship;
• Micah L. Agtunong, $2,500, Kaua‘i Community College, carpentry: The Milt KHS ‘60 and Debbie Valera Scholarship;
• Zoe A. Santa Maria, $1,500, Kaua‘i Community College, accounting: The Alan K. Funamura KHS ‘54 Scholarship;
• Cade E. Raposas-Carvalho, $1,000, Kapi‘olani Community College, EMT/paramedic: The Alan K. Funamura KHS ‘54 Scholarship;
• Glossey Paul Antibas Jr., $1,000, Kaua‘i Community College, Engineering: The Glen and Naomi (Kaneshiro) Terui KHS ‘60 Scholarship;
• Naomi Valdez, $1,000, The Paul Mitchell School-Honolulu, cosmetology: The June (Hamada) and Harry Minakami KHS ‘60 Scholarship.
