LIHU‘E — The county Finance Department’s divisions of motor vehicle registration and driver licensing are closing at 3 p.m. all this week to accommodate staff training for a planned integration project.
The integration project involves the combination of both the drivers licensing and motor vehicle registration divisions into one, full-service Department of Motor Vehicles.
Once the DMV integration project is complete, customers should have a better experience at the DMV, to include:
• More appointment availability when booking a service appointment;
• Reduced wait times in the lobby;
• Reduced transaction processing times while at a DMV service window;
• Improved technical expertise and customer service;
Office closures will occur at 3 p.m. daily, every other week, for this training. The last customers are seen at 2:48 p.m. during training weeks. A schedule for training is posted at kauai.gov/DMV.
The time for those 65 and older to conduct business is from 8 to 8:45 a.m. daily, and no appointments are necessary.
Appointments are highly encouraged during other hours to avoid longer than normal wait times. To book an appointment or for more information, visit www.kauai.gov/DMV. Walk-in customers will be served as time permits.
