Hoppity hop, hop! Happy Easter, Kaua‘i!
Hoppity hop, hop! Happy Easter, Kaua‘i!
The Easter bunny (er, it’s The Big Race’s Whiskas at the King’s Chapel HUGE!!! egg hunts!) has been busy getting those colorful orbs planted for young hands to discover in fields at the Hanapepe and Vidinha stadiums.
Kudos, Pastors Steve and Victoria Franks and their King’s Chapel ‘ohana for making sure Dorothy didn’t get run over by those several thousand pairs of little feet.
And Pastor John Cabello and his Hope Collective (it’s the new name of New Hope Lihu‘e) took care of more than keiki with their drive-thru Pre-Easter Encounter Pop-up Saturday (you needed to pre-register) at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e.
And, there were more like Kaleo Carvalho (how was that half marathon?) and the county’s Employee Council, which pulled off its annual food drive to benefit the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank.
Kudos, Malia Chun of Na Pua No‘eau (at Kaua‘i Community College) for filling up the Good Friday holiday calendar at the Alakoko Fishpond mural project (even U.S. Rep. Kai Kahele got to drop in at the Alakoko Fishpond through the invitation of County Councilmember Mason Chock!), where Mo‘olelo Murals artist Bree Blake — BTW, nice puffer fish! — made lunch for the crew (including Scouts Troop 148 and Pack 148 again — Little Miss Kaua‘i Hi‘ilei Berg is one of them!) that made nice advances on the project that Holly Ka‘iakapu (did you do the Community Work Day, too?) says is on schedule.
Holidays are great windows for all those who want to help, but get stuck because of school (and work) schedules…Good job, Sarah Bowen, Peleke Flores and all those Malama Hule‘ia hearts!
