Yes, the sour cream is there. Anastassia Romanova — she works for the Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i — was worried about making sure the sour cream was available for Elena Babich’s Ukrainian soup that she created for visiting world record holder Andrii Govorov (his coach, Eliot Prasnik, and manager Maike Wellmann, also came with Andrii), who offered a swim clinic for young swimmers through the effort of Swim Kaua‘i Aquatics coach Curt Colby.

Govorov holds the world record in the 50-meter butterfly.
Visiting along with Anastassia and Elena, Oksana Johnson and her daughter Sophia had Oksana’s mother and two sisters living in the Ukraine when the Russians started the invasion about a month ago. Oksana’s mother and sisters were among the millions of people leaving the country, and Oksana had just returned from Germany where she went to bring her mom to Hawai‘i. It might have been raining Friday, but it’s not cold!
Kudos to Nikki Cristobal of Mo‘olelo Murals, Tiele Dought of Malama Hule‘ia and Malia Chun of Na Pua No‘eau on launching the month-long mural project at the Alakoko (Menehune) Fishpond site!
Nikki and Holly Ka‘iakapu were definitely having a different experience than working in the lo‘i during the community work day a few weeks back.
Nikki and the Mo‘olelo Murals artists will be doing a live mural Saturday at the Kaua‘i Brewers Festival that will open from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Po‘ipu Beach Athletic Club to benefit Mo‘olelo Murals and the Kamawaelualani nonprofit dedicated to building community and perpetuating Native Hawaiian culture through public arts and place-based learning.
