Kudos to Rowena Contrades Pagan of Ho‘omana Thrift Store on getting all those people, especially “hanai fathers” Tim Harvey and Robert Oelke, for getting those can openers so those people who need food are not reliant on only pop-top cans!

Rowena (they call her “Weena”) continues to offer her weekly relief program for anyone who needs help on Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m. (don’t wait until 4:30, she said) with hot showers, basic medical service, hot meals, and now (thank you to all those people who realize that just one person can’t take care of the more than 80 people alone), with the help of the hanai papas, the Grocery Assistance Program food pantry mauka of the bridges over the Wailua River..
Kudos to Chris Machorek and his Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort ‘ohana on the opening of the resort’s new lu‘au hale — first lu‘au is Tuesday, and there are still open seats!
Welcome, Holly Hollinger (she’s got her line of hand-crafted note cards on sale at the Alakoko Store on Kress Street in Lihu‘e), to the Mo‘olelo Murals artists (what? They’re painting at Alakoko?) during the Friday Night Art in Lihu‘e. Now, there are two — the original Holly Ka‘iakapu and the new Holly Hollinger (anyone realize there are pineapply ethnicities?).
OK, time to go check out the inaugural Wailua Bay event at the Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i Wailua Bay.
