WAILUA — State jails and prisons will resume in-person visitations Monday, March 28, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
“Now that the latest COVID-19 outbreak to hit our state has passed, the department feels it is safe to resume family visitation as long as the families and inmates follow the added COVID-19 safety measures,” DPS Deputy Director for Corrections Tommy Johnson said in a release.
All regular visitation rules will apply.
Each facility will resume its normal visitation schedule, but will be adjusting to conduct the visits in compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention social-distancing requirements for contained correctional settings.
The new COVID-19 safety measures include visitor temperature checks, a health screening, masking and sanitization.
