You knew it was a special day at Keoki’s Paradise because Darin Tann told Manette DeCosta she had to work. Of course, Jaime Arreola was on hand to make sure everything was in order for TS Restaurant President and CEO Jackie Reed, who got help from Dylan Ching in presenting the specially made ‘ohi‘a o‘o to kumu Sabra. And, mahalo, MaryLou Foley, for being on hand to take care of the media representatives.
Loke Sasil (she works with Mary Lardizabal to get those Kapa‘a Middle School ‘ukulele players shaped up for their mainland competition) provided the music that was jazzed up with hula from the audience, including Kainani Viado and even Nalani Brun, to the delight of Sue Kanoho, who had her camera working nonstop even though Taylor Young of Jaxon Communication had her crew working.
Kudos to Peleke Flores and the Malama Hule‘ia gang of community workers who could not take in the festivities because they were engaged in Alakoko (Menehune) Fishpond cleanup.
