James Panui Jr.
James Panui Jr. passed away on March 11, 2022, at the age of 87 + 363 days, in Anahola. He was born on March 13, 1934, on Kaua‘i. He was a veteran with the U.S. Air Force and a mechanic first class with Roberts Tour Co.
He was preceded in death by sons James Panui III and Jason Panui, daughter Margeret Rose Panui, parents Margeret and James Panui Sr., brother Paul Panui and sisters Kanani Kahaunaele and Napua Nakamura.
He is survived by wife Carmen “Babu” Panui, sons Daniel (Lynda) Panui of Orlando, Florida, Monty Panui of Honolulu, Scott (Gail) Bukoski of Mountain View, Hawai‘i and Frank Bukoski of Kapahi, daughters Jamelyn (Gaylen) Shigeta of Kapa‘a, Leilani (Wayne) Laranio of Wailua, Judy (Kalani) Kelekoma of Hilo, Christy (Leland) Keale sr. of Anahola, Cathy (Kenny) Green of Wailua, Kelly (Mark) Kawasaki of Pearl City, O‘ahu and Jaycee (Robert) Lo Porto of Tennessee, 28 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, sister Merrilee Chandler of Anahola, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Saturday, April 9, at Kalihiwai Beach, with visitation from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. and services at noon. The family requests casual attire and lei only.

Gerardo Penalba Mararagan
Gerardo Penalba Mararagan passed away on March 7, 2022, at the age of 83, in Waimea. He was born on April 23, 1938, in Punungyan, Mendez, Cavite of the Philippines. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was also a logistics specialist at PMRF.
He was preceded in death by parents Candido and Maria Mararagan, brother Gavino Mararagan and sister Vincenta Mararagan.
He is survived by wife Perlita Mararagan, sons Mario (Julie) Mararagan of ‘Ele‘ele, Melvin (Joletta) Mararagan of Lawa‘i and Mark (Rachelle) Mararagan of Honolulu, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister Apolinaria Amparo of California, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are Saturday, March 26, at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha, with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.

Patrick James Rader
Patrick James Rader passed away on Feb. 22, 2022, at the age of 55, in Kekaha. He was born on July 29, 1966, in Santa Monica, California. He was a pilot.
He was preceded in death by father George Rader and mother Joyce O’Toole.
He is survived by wife Tracy Rader and sister Susi (Brad) Parkinson of Lawndale, California.

Wayne M. Hori
Wayne M. Hori of Koloa passed away on March 4, 2022, at the age of 71. He was born in Waimea on Jan. 14, 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy and National Guard, retired from the County of Kaua‘i Department of Water, and was the owner of South Shore Cab.
He was preceded in death by mother Asako Hori and wife Janice Hori.
He is survived by son Mac Wayne Hori, father Masato “Mac” Hori, sisters Cynthia (Ron) Terry and Karen Torigoe, brother Clyde (Norma) Hori, and aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be private.

Gladys Ann Obar
Gladys Ann Obar passed away on Dec. 7, 2021, at the age of 81. She was born in Hilo, Hawai‘i, on Aug. 26, 1940. She was a housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by parents Julio and Anitra Rodrigues, husband Bartolome Obar, son Russell Obar and brothers William Rodrigues and Thomas Rodrigues.
She is survived by daughters Gloria Paris, Corinna (Mark) Gardner, Dezeree Tay and Nichelle (Chris) Obar, son Jaime (Claudean) Obar, sisters Marie Kapoi, Clara Rodrigues, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 22, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary chapel in Koloa, with visitation from 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m.
