KAPA‘A — Kapa‘a High School senior Julian Bejar took a first-place medal at the week-long Career and Technical Student Organization conference that wrapped up on March 4.
Bejar was one of 13 Kapa‘a High students participating, along with more than 900 health occupations students from across the state, in the virtual conference that started on Feb. 28.
“Kapa‘a High School students competed in two days of rigorous competition varying in events,” said Kapa‘a High instructor Kara Kitamura. “By the end of the week, our amazing students not only made us proud, but also brought home multiple medals.”
Bejar took first place, and junior Lacie Binongial earned second place, in the cultural diversity and disparities in health care event.
Taylor Bradley and Wendell Soriano earned first place in the emergency medical technician category.
“We also had two teams just miss the top 3 spots,” Kitamura said.
Alexander Henriques and Lomanidiessa Tatofi finished fourth in CPR and first aid, and the team of Wainohia Kitamura, Addie Jensen and Taeani Largusa earned fourth place for their public-service announcement created to promote the bone registry in hopes of helping Baby Seeley Borges find a match.
