“She’s trying to stay awake,” said Samira Siale, mom of Ariyana Siale, who made her public debut Saturday during the joint-effort food distribution coordinated by Kelvin Moniz and the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank, where Kawai Gampon even got his parents, Chris and Ray Gampon, to come out and help distribute more than 300 food packages in a drive-thru format in the Aloha Sweet Delites parking lot.

Congratulations, Tyrus and Samira, on Ariyana’s birth Feb. 4!
Morgan Lopez of Hawai‘iUSA Federal Credit Union said Ariyana is already the social-media butterfly, with daily posts. No, Morgan was not at the food distribution, but at the Read Across America at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e, where spring break has already sprung. Did you see those lines outside Oki’s Bento and L&L Hawaiian BBQ?
Kudos to RoseAnne Jones and the Kaua‘i Society of Artists on opening the Spring Show Saturday with a special rememberance section for artist Fred Zollinger. Yougotta go check it out, and the special Ukraine connection with artist Licia McDonald (gotta hurry because both pieces were already marked “Sold” Saturday).
Kudos to the organizers (there were several, including Kumu’s Cupboard, USBorne Books and More, Family and Community Education, HawaiiUSA FCU, and Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and The Cat In the Hat, too!) of Read Across America that only served as a preview of the exciting learner things coming up at KGC for spring break, starting early with Toddler Tuesday at 11 a.m.
