LIHU‘E — The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office announced 64 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
This brings the number of active, recorded cases to 153, with five hospitalized. According to the Hawai‘i Emergency Management Agency, three are in the intensive care unit.
The most recently available data shows Kaua‘i currently has a 10.8% test positivity rate, the highest in the state. The state, in turn, has a 5.3% test positivity rate, the HIEMA COVID-19 dashboard reports.
To date, the county has recorded 11,648 cumulative cases.
A free testing site at Kaua‘i War Memorial Conventional Hall in Lihu‘e is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In observance of the Presidents’ Day holiday, this center will be closed on Monday, Feb. 21 and will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 22.
A mobile van offering free rapid PCR COVID-19 tests is at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
