Chris Faye, executive director of the Koke‘e Museum, a part of the Hui O Laka program, accepted a $1,500 award from Rob’s Good Times Grill Wednesday.
These funds represent the proceeds from the January Rob’s Gives Back program, where a portion of sales from a select specialty item at Rob’s Good Times Grill is set aside as a donation to a select nonprofit organization for the month.
Faye, in expressing Hui O Laka’s appreciation for the gift, said the funds will be used to restore and adapt the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp, more commonly known as the CCC Camp, so the facility can be opened to the public later in the year. The adaptations include considerations for current COVID-19 restrictions.
Tiana Pegeder, the events and entertainment coordinator for Rob’s Good Times Grill, said the program has been running since the start of 2021.
“Rob’s has been very successful in donating generous amounts to a number of nonprofits, including the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i, Kumu’s Cupboard, Life’s Bridges and more,” Pegeder said. “We plan on continuing this program for as long as we are able to.”
The recipient organization for the December Rob’s Gives Back program was the Kaua‘i Resilience Project.
