“I was telling my dad about the dragon,” Martinez said. “He just told me that I should do that because I’m Chinese and I know how to do it.”
Martinez and Brenda Biehler Turville were able to have a pause from their keiki activities that were set up in a special room adjacent to Jamba Juice as part of KGC’s Valentine’s Day activities.
Valentine’s Day promotions started Jan. 29 when KGC launched its popular Valentine Shop &Dine program. The promotion, where KGC shoppers can redeem receipts for dining certificates, continues through Feb. 11. Details can be found on several posters peppering the center.
This weekend also marks the opening of the Kaua‘i Quilt Show Friday at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery with a special meet-the-quilters reception from 5 to 8 p.m.
“We’ll be here then,” Turville said. “The selfie stations, one located inside the keiki activities room and the all-red room across from Oki’s Bento, will be open from 3 p.m. We’ll have some special appearances by the Showtime Characters, including the unicorn and others.”
The characters and keiki activities, including a variety of make-it-and-take-it crafts, are available Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday too.
“What about the National Football League Super Bowl?” Turville asked. “Super Bowl LVI is on Sunday, but Valentine’s Day is Monday. This is the last chance for keiki to enjoy the Valentine’s Day activities.”
