Kudos to Sean Doi (official title is Spelling Bee official!) and his state Department of Education ‘ohana on hosting the Kaua‘i District Spelling Bee with the largest field in recent memory — 18 spellers!

The event that addressed all the COVID-19 protocols (coach William ‘Bill’ Arakaki was doing admission protocol) went a long (hope Taco Bell was still open, Sabrina Bodon!) 36 rounds, with the eventual winner (gotta read TGI story to find out who won) going nearly three hours of spelling words correctly.
Mahalo, Michaela Rapozo, for getting the results of that Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation girls basketball game, where coach William Aki’s trio of Olivia Malafu, Alexie Ann Yam and Hinali‘i Grance (remember the days when Jimmy Torio said she was going to be the rock star?) exploded to spoil coach Neil Fagarang’s Kaua‘i High School Senior Night for girls basketball.
More kudos to Donna Miller and the Holy Cross Church volunteers (some even came from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kalaheo Ward) on hosting the church’s once-a-month food distribution with the support from the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i.
OK, don’t forget: Today is the first day of The Good Fix in the Anahola Marketplace. They start accepting cats for spay and neutering from 8 a.m., first-come, first-served, until the capacity of 100 cats is reached. The Good Fix is there through Tuesday.
