Howard Yamaguchi has been driving school buses for 51 years. With so many companies having difficulties finding qualified drivers, Howard is a definite treasure, and this isn’t counting the fact he’s part of the Kilauea Social Club, too.

Howard, while waiting for Waimea High School to finish their boys basketball games against Kapa‘a, reminisced about his grandparents, Walter McBryde, and the many people that were centered around Kukuiolono Park.
Mahalo, Simplicia Tugade for taking time to see that everything is ship-shape and proper at the Salt Pond Park! Simplicia has done a great job getting the park back to its pristine condition following the closure of the Shelter in Place camp, and even overflows her effort to the park area outside the Hanapepe Stadium near the tennis courts, and helps with the stadium crew on those big days like the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation football games.
Kudos to Hanapepe United Church of Christ Church pastor Valerie Ross (she got to personally meet some of those Kaua‘i Police Department officers to help with some of the issues taking place around the church. Simplicia said there’s problems at the tennis court pavilions, too) for allowing Randy Francisco and all those organizers (haven’t seen Jackie Kaina of the Kaua‘i Economic Development Board since the pandemic started) of the Westside Job Fair.
Laurie Yoshida shared that Nikki Cristobal said “yes” in late January…no wonder Laurie’s the Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce Member of the Year along with Cyndi Ayonon, who was just down the street at the soccer games at Hanapepe Stadium.
