LIHU‘E — Five Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation soccer contests filled the Saturday calendar. However, at press time, Monday, only three results were available.
Over at the Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex in Kapa‘a, Kapa‘a High split its series against Island School, the Lady Warriors taking a 2-0 edge over the Voyagers and the Island School varsity men blanking the Warrior boys 2-0 in the nightcap.
The Lady Warriors were engaged in a defensive battle, and both scores were netted in the first half when Tavehi Dubocage got her goal in the 27th minute, and with two minutes remaining in the half, Rhea Furtado scored her goal.
Island School varsity boys also engaged in a defensive slugfest with the Warriors, and only broke the 0-0 stalemate in the 31st minute when Javin Hennessy found the net.
Coming off the break, Hanalei Wann welcomed the second half with his goal in the first 10 minutes of play.
Keith Burgess, the Kaua‘i High School trainer on duty with the soccer teams at Hanapepe Stadium, said the only score he got was a 5-0 win by the Kaua‘i High varsity girls over the Waimea High girls.
