Congratulations to the Hawai‘i Lodging &Tourism Association Kaua‘i Chapter on getting the sold-out field of golfers out on the Hokuala Ocean Course (Kelly Hines was eyeing the Kipu Ranch Adventure package on the silent-auction table) to benefit the scholarship program (it’s so sad not to see the Kaus‘i Community College culinary-arts students doing their meal-preparation thing).

But mahalo to the Hui Ho‘okipa students from Kaua‘i High School (Cheyley Jacobs is on the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation “pause” in girls basketball) for joining Melissa Ragasa of the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i to get the golfers stocked up on fuel for the 18-hole tour.
The lunchtime crowd — Ernie Domingo, Ronnie Matsumura and more — were out playing Senior Softball, so missed out on the free Adventurefuls samples that were passed out by the Girl Scouts Saturday at the Kukui Grove Center food court. Good job, Angela Hoover, on preparing more than 600 individually wrapped cookies so everyone could be safe from the COVID-19 virus.
Eric Sakazaki said the bug found The Rookies so their Senior Softball game was re-scheduled.
Kudos to Seth Womble and his Nirmana students Sofia Saunders, Quinn Costarella and Erin Hunt, on finishing the “Mo’ Please” mural on the side wall (the Nirmana kids said it gets really hot in the afternoons so they tried to do the work in the mornings) of The Right Slice in Kalaheo.
You can still pre-order your Girl Scout cookies (this is the only time in the year to get them) before the deliveries start going out from Feb. 17. Just go find a Girl Scout, or visit the Girl Scouts of Hawai‘i website, gshawaii.org.
